Vintage Painted Indian Pithara Console Chest Calligraphy Brushes 37 x 49 x 1This fabulously decorative Indian painted chest is made from teak with hand forged iron banding and has been repainted with traditional Indian designs. This style of pithara is from a Kathi home in Saurashtra and was known in the local dialect as a pataro. The Kathi were a ruling caste in Saurashtra and these chests would have contained a grand dowry. It is perfect for the storage of bedding for occasional guests.
