Mongolian Painted Chest From Gansu - 19thC Origin - Morocco After chewing it is eitherThis unusual chest is from the Chinese province of Gansu, but made in the Mongolian style and still has it's original painting from when it was made in the 18th century. The quality of this piece is exceptional with a level of painting and gilding rarely seen now. The painting depicts a the cintamani (wish granting jewels) in the center which represent wisdom. We've added a black lacquer base to this to make this more practical as a coffee table.
