The paraths are carved from a single piece of timber and are usually made from teak or acacia wood - our old parath bowls have a wonderful patina which comes from frequent use over many years

They were made from turned Teak legs (sometimes lacquered or carved) with a roheda wood frame & woven with cotton or jute

This particular chair is made from walnut and elm

Made with durable stoneware and finished with a rich black glaze

Chinese Red Elm Side Table From Jiangsu Province - 19thC Gifts Carved From A Single PieceThis antique Chinese side table is made from red elm (jumu) and would have been used as stools or side table. The style is classic of Jiangsu province, an area that uses predominantly red elm. Red elm (also known as 'zelkova' or 'southern elm') is considered a superior wood to yumu, its northern cousin. Originally these pieces would have been coated with a burgundy lacquer which has worn away from years of use. They have been sympathetically restored
