Large Thai Gilt Rattanakosin Sitting Buddha Statue - 19th Century Necklaces These were low chairs withAn excellent & extremely large antique Thai Rattanakosin (1782 1932) sitting Buddha dating to the early 19th century. Buddha sits atop a decorated lotus throne with a serene expression and meditative downcast eyes. As with early Rattanakosin castings, he has an ushnisha, a protuberance symbolising enlightenment & enthronement. This became less common in later Rattanakosin castings when crowns became more common. This came with influence from Europe
