He was subsequently transferred to the 2nd Battery of the 107th Artillery Regiment and was killed in action in the Soviet Union on 23 December 1941

He is buried in Bapaume Post Military Cemetery

Constructed of forest green wool, the obverse bearing a hand embroidered silver aluminum wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse retaining a faux black leather liner, unmarked, measuring 100 mm (w) x 42 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
